The list below includes some of the most frequently used terms here at The Out Pitch.
Avril Lavigne: Pitcher that overcomplicates matters on the mound. Usually someone with good stuff but poor pitch sequencing and/or command.
Brokeback Mountain: "I can't quit you!" Those players that you draft year after year even when you know that things may not break your way.
Claimsy: Portmanteau of the words clumsy and claim. When you forget to set your waivers and miss out on a key player, or even worse when you forget to update your claims and spend your FAAB on an injured player.
For example: "Aww dang, I forgot to put in a bid for Spencer Strider last night. I'm so claimsy!"
Glass Cannon: A common video game term with essentially the same meaning here- a player that does a lot of damage but also takes a lot of damage.
For example: Jacob deGrom, Clayton Kershaw, Tyler Glasnow, Luis Severino, and Frankie Montas. The New York Yankees are known for favouring glass cannons in their rotation.
Katy Perry: Also known as a yo-yo. This is a streaky player that can be fun to play but will have many ups and downs throughout the season. They're hot, then they're cold, they're a yes, then they're a no.
SPRAINS: An acronym that stands for Starting Pitchers Really Are Injured Non-Stop. Often used to make a quick reference to the fact that there are very few pitchers in baseball without any degree of injury risk.
Tequila Shot: A pitcher with good stuff, but needs more chase. Often characterized by a low Whiff Rate and O-Swing.
